Electricity has been reinstated in the Zeeland region.

ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) — According to a Consumers Energy map, power has been successfully restored to more than a thousand residents in Zeeland on Tuesday night. The map did not specify the cause of the outage, but it occurred during an ongoing winter storm characterized by strong winds and accumulating snow.

The power loss was initially reported around 7:12 p.m. and was fully resolved by 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

In the event of a power outage, it is crucial to disconnect electronic devices to prevent potential power surges. If a generator is being used, Consumers Energy recommends placing it at least 25 feet away from enclosed spaces for proper ventilation.

For assistance during an outage, individuals can call 211 to be connected with a representative who can provide further guidance. Additionally, all outages can be reported to Consumers Energy by dialing 1.800.477.5050.
