Hey there! So, guess what? Every year, I write these super cool letters from Santa for my nieces and nephews, who I like to call “niblings.” It’s been my 10th year doing this! Back in the day, I didn’t have kids of my own, and I had only eight niblings. Now, I’ve got 18 niblings and two kiddos.
Back in 2014, I had this kinda boring office job, but these letters became my escape from all the boring stuff. Now, I’m like a fancy writer person – two whole folks have said hi to me on the street in the last six years.
Writing these letters is my favorite thing to do each year. They’ve turned into this awesome tradition where I get letters back from my favorite people – my niblings. Since I don’t get to see them a lot, it’s super cool to know what they’ve been up to, if they’ve been good, and what they want for Christmas. Oh, and apparently, ripped denim flares are back in style – who knew?
Getting these letters also makes it easy to play Santa. I can be all forgetful and scatterbrained, just like Santa in December. This year, Santa says it’s so cold that the elves’ words freeze in their mouths, and they have to heat them over a stove to talk. Santa gives updates on the presents they want, some awesome stickers, and a cool diagram of Santa’s Arctic Fortress. And get this, it might be based on this super famous diagram from 2001 – talk about sneaky.
But you know what? There’s a bit of a sad feeling when I write these letters. Out of the 20 kids getting these letters, seven are still true believers, and five are too little to know better. The others, well, they’ve kinda moved on from the whole Santa thing and don’t write as enthusiastically. Instead of sweet letters to Santa, they’re more like shopping lists. It’s kinda sad, but I don’t let it bother me too much. I’m too busy making sure I don’t forget anyone – got my list somewhere, gotta check it twice.
